About Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac
Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac has been serving the Georgetown/Pawleys Island area for almost 20 years. Our dealership was founded on June 29th, 1990 when Jim English and his son, David English, opened Coastal Chevrolet Oldsmobile in Georgetown, South Carolina. On December 10th, 1990 Jim unexpectedly passed away. David English continued to run the company with his mother Betty English and his sister, Angela English Brown. On July 29th, 2000 Coastal Chevrolet Oldsmobile was awarded the Cadillac franchise and two years later Oldsmobile was discontinued. In June 2002 Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac relocated to its current location, Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
The founder Jim English was a North Carolina native. He graduated from high school in 1943 and served in the US Navy for three years. He then attended KingsBusinessCollege in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated with an accounting degree. Jim immediately landed a job at a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Charlotte as an accountant, but soon realized he was a natural born salesperson. This was the beginning of his career in the automotive industry.
Jim always believed in putting the customer first no matter what. He felt that by taking care of all of his customers 100% of the time, he would always be able to sell all of the cars, service and parts he needed. David, Betty and Angie continue to hold that belief today and feel that it is the foundation for the dealership.
Jim was also a firm believer in helping his fellow man. That is why Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac is a proud sponsor of the Coastal Invitational Baseball Tournament and is a regular contributor for several local golf tournaments. To this day, the English family carries on the heritage, integrity and attitude of Jim English and will continue to do so for you and your family.
